A Goodbye to Phil Allen Hurt

Phil Allen Hurt died last week of a massive heart attack. He was 52 years old, physically active, and had no idea he was ill. Given the choice to linger in pain and misery, or go out quickly and at the top of my game, I would choose the latter. Following is the Obituary from a local newspaper. It is sparce. Phillip Allen Hurt aged 52, of Martinsville, died on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville with Rev. Mark Kaley officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service and cremation followed.
He was born November 6th, 1952 in Terre Haute, the son of Phillip E. and Imogene Adkins Hurt.
He was a horseman who worked with, and maintained horses at the Martinsville Agricultural Fairgrounds. He was a member of the Robinson Western Saddle Club, the Arabian Trail Riders, and The American Quarter Hourse Association.
He enjoyed horses, music, and reading.
Surviving are a daughter, Onawa Kucera of Martinsville, a son, Phillip Charles Hurt of Wilmington, IL, his parents Phillip and Imogene Hurt of Martinsville, sister Patsy Hurt of Houston, TX and three grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Hurt, Melanie Hurt, and Mason Meister.
Because of his love for animals the family asked that any memorial contributions be made to the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
