Mt. Rainier National Park, 6000 Ft. Observation Point

Mt. Rainier is 14,400 feet tall. We are at the 6000 foot level in this photo. There are guides who take groups of climbers up to the summit. We noticed a number of folks with climbing gear at the Observation Point.

The freeze point that day was 11,000 feet. It was forecast to be freezing at 8000 feet the next day -- obviously climbing on glaciers requires some care based on temperatures.
